S02--Uncharted Territory: Exploring Metabolic Dysfunction in the Post-HEM Era

During this session, speakers will explore uncharted territory in the management of metabolic dysfunction in the post-HEMT era. This session will address pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic management of metabolic disease, upcoming trends in screening and treating CFRD, as well as addressing considerations when screening for and treating hyperlipidemia.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the pharmacist’s role in screening for lipid abnormalities, diagnosis of hyperlipidemia, and effective treatment strategies
  • Evaluate the role of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) in screening for cystic fibrosis related diabetes (CFRD) and explore the potential use of oral antidiabetic agents in the management of CFRD
  • Discuss non-pharmacologic interventions and GLP-1 receptor agonist utilization in people with cystic fibrosis to optimize nutritional status and prevent metabolic disease
