TPS02--Models Systems to Study Pulmonary & Non-pulmonary Manifestations of CF | Theater A Exhibit Hall

This session will provide a quick description of the use of model systems, both in vitro and in vivo, for the study of pulmonary and non-pulmonary manifestations of CF. This session consists of two main parts: poster viewing followed by a moderated discussion. It is designed to engage the authors and the audience in a discussion that ties together ideas from multiple posters in the session.

Learning Objectives:

  • Evaluate the application of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) models in studying gastrointestinal manifestations of cystic fibrosis (CF), including their utility in elucidating pathophysiological mechanisms and modeling patient-specific phenotypes
  • Explore novel in vivo models in evaluating the efficacy and mechanistic impact of CF-directed therapies including CFTR modulators and emerging mRNA-based treatments
  • Describe novel approaches to advance understanding and care of CF including developing mechanistic insights in cell type tracking, novel infectious disease therapeutics, and aging with CF
