CC06--It's Complicated: A Review of Complex Patients Therapies & Outcomes

This session will invite two respiratory therapists and two physical therapists to review four complex patients with challenges including bone density, balance dysfunction, developmental delay, and poor adherence to therapies due to the demands of being a working adult. We will examine successful strategies used to positively impact these complicated patients and discuss outcome measures used to track their progress or regress across time. Together we will collaborate on the complexities of how to improve our practice and empower our patients to embrace their tomorrows.

Learning Objectives:

  • Design airway clearance therapies to increase adherence in a patient's daily regimen.
  • Discuss an effective resistance training program to increase bone mineral density.
  • Assess balance deficits and risk factors in order to safely promote an active lifestyle.
