Matthew E. Long, PhD, Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine and Department of Microbial Infection and Immunity, The Ohio State University. Our laboratory studies the cellular and molecular mechanisms regulating pulmonary inflammation and its resolution, with the goal of developing new therapeutics to reduce inflammation and elimiate infections. Our recent studies have focused on understanding the anti-inflammatory effects of MEK1/2 inhibitor compounds on immune and epithelial cells. We have also been investigating the direct anti-bacterial mechanisms of some MEK1/2 inhibitor compounds on CF clinical isolates of Staphylococcus aureus.
