Emily M. Godfrey, MD MPH is a Professor in the Departments of Family Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Washington. She is a practicing family physician, with a clinical focus on lifestyle medicine. She is a core faculty member of the University of Washington Family Medicine Research Section and Osher Center for Integrative Health.
By combining primary care with her public health and experience in clinical trials, observational studies, quality improvement (QI) and patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR), Dr. Godfrey developed a robust research portfolio around women’s health issues with funding from Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF), Society of Family Planning (SFP), industry and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Using seed funding from PCORI, she co-founded the Cystic Fibrosis Reproductive and Sexual Health Collaborative (CFReSHC) in 2016. She is the leading author of several articles related to patient-engaged research, including a recent published article: Development and evaluation of a virtual patient-centered outcomes research training program for the cystic fibrosis community.
Dr. Godfrey holds fellowships in the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Society of Family Planning, and earned a certificate in Quality Improvement from the University of Washington’s Center for Scholarship in Patient Care Quality and Safety. She is a three-time recipient of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Ambassador Scholarship Award. She received the University of Illinois Faculty Mentoring Award and the Linda K. Gunzburger Faculty Award for Excellence in Scholarship from the University of Illinois Department of Family Medicine, and was recognized for her extraordinary contribution to the health and well-being of women by Sara Feigenholtz of the Illinois House of Representatives.
