Christine Decker-Hughes, RN, BSN, IBCLC, CPN is a Nurse Coordinator for the Adult Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Program at UC San Diego Health (UCSDH) and serves as a triage resource nurse at Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego, California. As a registered nurse with over 20 years of experience across a range of pediatric and adult specialties, Christine brings a deep commitment to patient-centered care and clinical excellence. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Point Loma Nazarene University and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at the same institution. Her area of focus is Adult/Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist with an emphasis on Women’s Health. She has been an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) since 2010 and became a Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) in 2024. Christine has a longstanding passion for lactation support and women’s health. Upon completing her DNP, she plans to transition into an advanced practice nursing role within a CF care center, with a particular interest in addressing the unique health needs of women with CF. A dedicated advocate for the CF community, Christine is committed to improving access to care and enhancing care quality for all individuals with CF. She actively contributes to quality improvement initiatives through her service on multiple organizational councils and as co-chair of the CF Patient and Family Advisory Council at UCSDH. She is also regularly volunteers at local chapter CFF events, supporting the community of people and families affected by CF in San Diego. Outside of work, Christine enjoys spending time at the football and baseball fields cheering on her sons, or relaxing at the beach, soaking up the warm, sunny California weather.
