The Hospital for Sick Children
Blythe Owen, MScPT, CAE is a physiotherapist who has been practicing for more than two decades at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. She has a passion to work with children and has worked in general pediatrics, respirology, lung transplant and intensive care units as well as in the ambulatory setting for patients with chronic lung conditions. She is involved in clinical and academic teaching and is status appointed lecturer at the University of Toronto. She has keen interest and passion in working with children with CF and their families, participating in clinical research and quality improvement projects. She is also a co-author for the chapter on Cystic Fibrosis in the textbook, Physical Therapy in Children published by WB. Saunders (2012, 2016, 2023) and has contributed to patient education material through a grant entitled “IMPACT: Individualized Management Principles and Advocacy for Cystic Fibrosis Treatment,” which supported the creation of a website about Cystic Fibrosis for adolescents with the goal of empowerment and health choices. Blythe had an opportunity to contribute to CF Canada’s guidelines on “inhaled antibiotics,” and was also the recipient of “Ontario’s Outstanding Healthcare Provider Award” for Cystic Fibrosis Canada in 2021. Her dedication and experience in Cystic Fibrosis also allowed her the opportunity to coordinate, moderate and present at past North American Cystic Fibrosis conferences.
