Children's of Alabama
Cathy Mims, MSHQS, RN, BSN, is currently the Program Manager for the CFF-sponsored programs CF Training Network-Latin America (CFTN-LA) and the International Mentoring Training Initiative (IMTI) based at the University of Alabama at Birmingham/Children's of Alabama Pediatric CF center (UAB/COA). She is also the Genia sponsored project manager. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the UAB School of Nursing and a Master of Science in Healthcare Quality and Safety from the UAB School of Health Professions. Cathy has worked in CF care for over 20 year and previously served as the CF Program Coordinator and a center quality improvement leader. She has been a member and a leader of the UAB/COA CF center international training team since 2014. Her work now involves 12 CF teams from Latin America. The CFTN-LA trains teams to provide high-quality CF care as a multidisciplinary team while implementing improvement processes leading to better patient outcomes and increased life expectancy in their respective regions. Cathy now manages the IMTI program to train other US-based teams in the effective CFTN methodology to further the CFF mission to improve care for people with CF in the developing world. Additionally, she is responsible for implementation of the mHealth platform Genia at Children’s of Alabama and additional study sites.
