Department of Genetic Medicine, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine
Dr. Neeraj Sharma is an Assistant Professor at the McKusick-Nathans Department of Genetic Medicine at Johns Hopkins University. His research centers on cystic fibrosis (CF), particularly on the functional characterization and therapeutic targeting of CFTR mutations that are unresponsive to existing modulators. His lab develops advanced cell models, including nasal and sweat gland cultures, to study RNA splicing, nonsense-mediated decay, and therapeutic rescue using readthrough agents and ASOs. He is also investigating gene insertion strategies for individuals with large CFTR deletions. Dr. Sharma’s work bridges basic molecular genetics with translational approaches for underserved CF populations.
