Dr. Tess Smith-Thomas is a pediatric psychologist and assistant professor at the University of Kentucky (UK) and Kentucky Children’s Hospital. She is the Metal Health Coordinator for the UK Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis Center and has served on the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Social Determinants of Health Advisory Committee. Dr. Smith-Thomas provides clinical care to children and families experiencing difficulty adjusting to an injury or illness, including CF. She is also committed to conducting applied, clinically relevant research alongside and related to her clinical work focused on improving assessment, intervention, and reducing health inequities for children with medical conditions. Dr. Smith-Thomas also collaborates with the Center for Pediatric Traumatic Stress to implement trauma-informed care throughout the medical setting.
