James F. Chmiel, MD, MPH

James F. Chmiel, MD, MPH is a Professor of Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine and the Chief of Pediatric Pulmonology, Allergy/Immunology and Sleep Medicine at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. Dr. Chmiel has been involved with CF for nearly 30 years. He served as Associate Center Director, Center Director, Associate TDC Director at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital for several years. Dr. Chmiel has been the Associate Center Director and Associate TDC Director at Riley Hospital for Children since 2021. Dr. Chmiel conducts many clinical trials in CF. His research involves understanding the impact of anti-inflammatory therapeutics upon CF airway inflammation. Dr. Chmiel is a member of the CF Foundation’s Clinical Research Committee.
