T. Spencer Poore, MD MSCS is an assistant professor of pediatrics in the division of pulmonary and sleep medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is an associate scientist in the Gregory Fleming James Cystic Fibrosis Research Center at UAB. His work mainly focuses on Aspergillus infection in the CF airway, the role of mucus in Aspergillus infection, CF animal modeling and imaging interpretations, and host responses to Aspergillus co-infection. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia, his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia, did his residency and chief residency training in pediatrics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and his pediatric pulmonary fellowship at the University of Colorado. He has been fortunate enough to be mentored by leaders in the CF community throughout his training and junior faculty years. In his spare time, Spencer enjoys writing and playing music, all forms of cycling, bouldering, and pretending he is an oyster culinary expert. While these ventures are all fun and ambitious, he is actually just wrangling his three young children most hours of the day.
