Dr. Shilpa Sood, is a board-certified pediatric gastroenterologist and trained transplant hepatologist with specialized expertise in cystic fibrosis–associated gastrointestinal and liver disease, pediatric nutrition, and chronic liver disease. She is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at New York Medical College and an Attending Physician at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital in Valhalla, NY.
Dr. Sood recently completed a Pediatric Transplant Hepatology Fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University. Prior to that for nearly a decade, she led GI care at the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital and at Armond Mascia Cystic Fibrosis Center managing CF-related liver complications, DIOS, and nutritional disorders.
She earned her MBBS in India, completed a master’s degree in experimental pathology, and trained in pediatrics and gastroenterology at New York Medical College, where she also served as Chief Fellow. Dr. Sood has presented nationally at NASPGHAN and NACFC and was the first at her institution to receive FDA approval for colonoscopic fecal microbiota transplant in pediatric C. difficile infections.
A recipient of the CFF’s DIGEST Grant, she serves on NASPGHAN’s Pediatric Hepatology Committee and MASLD SIG. Dedicated to interdisciplinary care and academic excellence, Dr. Sood continues to mentor trainees and lead clinical initiatives aimed at improving outcomes for children with complex gastrointestinal and liver disorders. Dr. Sood is actively involved in medical education, research, and multidisciplinary care for children with complex GI and liver disorders.
