Rutgers Urology
Danielle Velez Leitner is a reproductive urologist and Director of Men's Health at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Hopsital in New Jersey, specializing in male infertility and sexual dysfunction. She completed her urology residency at Brown University (Rhode Island Hospital) and then a fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago in male infertility and sexual dysfunction. She is now an Assistant Professor at Rutgers. The majority of her research focuses on sexual and reproductive health in men with cystic fibrosis. In 2022 she was nominated to serve on the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s (CFF) TDN Sexual Health, Reproduction, and Gender Research Working Group (SHARING), a multi-disciplinary team of CF clinicians, researchers, and patients who identify knowledge gaps, determine research priorities, and develop infrastructure needed to conduct research related to CF and sexual, reproductive, and gender health. Through SHARING, we have surveyed men and women with CF on their specific sexual and reproductive health concerns. This has led to an ongoing retrospective review of sperm retrieval rates and embryo outcomes for men with CF and database studies on the prevalence of hypogonadism in men with CF.
