Lucy Gale is a Senior Research Dietitian and Clinical Project Manager at the Heart and Lung Research Institute, Royal Papworth Hospital, Cambridge and PhD student in the Department of Medicine, University of Cambridge (Floto Lab).
She has over 20 years clinical experience as a dietitian in the NHS, 12 of these were as a Cystic Fibrosis Specialist Dietitian with interests in body composition .
Lucy project manages a range of home monitoring studies in people with CF. These range from small novel sensor pilots to large, multicentre, randomised controlled device trials. Her research focuses on the early detection of acute pulmonary exacerbations with the aims of empowering patients, enhancing quality of life, reducing unnecessary hospital attendance and improving outcomes. Two of these studies are Project Breathe, which ran for 5 years and the results are now being analysed, and ACE-CF which is now in follow up.
