Rabindra Tirouvanziam is the Schinazi Family Distinguished Biomedical Chair , Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Emory University, primary faculty within the Center for CF and Airways Disease Research (CF-AIR) at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and Adjunct Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, all located in Atlanta, GA, USA.
Dr. Tirouvanziam obtained his MSc in Bioengineering from Agro Paris Tech, his MSc in Lung Physiology from Université Paris XII and PhD in Development Biology from College de France, all in the Paris region, in France. He then pursued postdoctoral studies in Genetics and Immunology at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, USA.
He leads a translational research group of 15+ members investigating immunometabolic dysregulation in human disease affecting the lung [e.g., cystic fibrosis (CF), COVID-19, tuberculosis (TB)], and other organs systems [diabetes, cold tumors, malaria]. His group is funded by US federal government grants, foundation awards, and biotech partnerships. As of June 2025, he counts 6 patents, and over 250 abstracts and 100 papers (h-index = 40).
