Caitlyn Sebastian is a 5th-year graduate student trainee at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in the Graduate Biomedical Science program. Caitlyn completed their bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science at Troy University in 2019. After graduating, Caitlyn was accepted into the NIH Postbaccalaureate Intramural Research Training program, where she worked in the lab of Dr. Clifton E. Barry and investigated antituberculosis compounds isolated from bacteria found in peat bog soil. At UAB, Caitlyn joined the lab of Dr. Megan Kiedrowski, studying how the cystic fibrosis airway nutritional environment influences and changes bacterial species interactions.
