Feng Yuan, PhD

Feng Yuan, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor at the School of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He completed his training under Dr. John Engelhardt at the University of Iowa. He received Cystic Fibrosis Research Institute New Horizon Award and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Research Grant. His early work demonstrated that pulmonary ionocytes are responsible for air surface liquid absorption and secretion through CFTR-dependent chloride transport. He is especially interested in developing strategies to fix defective transepithelial chloride transport in cystic fibrosis, which could help all cystic fibrosis patients.
