Tanicia Daley, MD, MPH is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine and a board-certified pediatric endocrinologist based in Atlanta, Georgia. She provides clinical care at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Her clinical and research expertise focuses on pediatric diabetes, pediatric obesity, and endocrine complications associated with cystic fibrosis (CF).
Dr. Daley received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida and earned a Master of Public Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She completed her medical degree at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, followed by an internship at Advocate Christ Medical Center and a pediatric residency at Comer Children’s Hospital. She went on to complete her fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at Emory University.
Her research primarily investigates CF-related endocrinopathies, with a particular focus on beta-cell dysfunction and glucose metabolism. She serves as the lead pediatric endocrinologist for her center’s CF program and was the inaugural recipient of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s EnVision CF: Emerging Leaders in CF Endocrinology award in 2016. Her NIH-funded research explores the acute metabolic effects of high glycemic index foods and sugar-sweetened beverages in people with CF and examines how these dietary exposures may influence the risk of developing cystic fibrosis-related diabetes (CFRD).
Dr. Daley also serves as Co-Director of the Diabetes, Endocrine, and GI Research Core within Emory University’s NIDDK-funded P30 Cystic Fibrosis Research and Translation Center where she oversees diabetes-related research efforts. Her work aims not only to clarify the mechanisms contributing to CFRD but also to understand disparities in CFRD outcomes. She is particularly interested in how social determinants of health and environmental factors influence the onset and progression of CFRD—an emerging and underexplored area of research.
