Dr. Gregory Newby, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Johns Hopkins Department of Genetic Medicine. His laboratory is focused on the application of genome editing tools to treat genetic disease. His postdoctoral training was completed in the lab of Dr. David Liu at the Broad Institute and Harvard University, where he focused on the adaptation of genome editors to treat models of sickle cell disease, cardiomyopathy, blindness, and cystic fibrosis. His PhD training was conducted in the laboratory of Dr. Susan Lindquist at MIT, where he studied protein aggregation in yeast.
