Patrick Harrison Ph.D. is Director of Pulmonary Gene Therapy at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital where he runs the CF Gene Editing Research Group. His work is supported by CF Foundation grants and the Cincinnati Children's Research Foundation and he has extensive collaborations with groups across Europe and USA. The key focus is on the development of simplified editing strategies to correct multiple CF causing variants, and which are amenable to clinical development.
As Associate Editor for Gene Therapy he recently worked with Ted Friedmann to publish a special issue on the “Cost of gene therapy”, and is currently working with Chandra Ghose-Paul and Lúcia Santos of Emily’s Entourage to produce a special issue entitled “Unlocking Potential: Harnessing Negative Data to Accelerate CF Research and Therapeutic Development”.
Patrick gave the closing plenary lecture at the 2023 ECFS conference in Vienna entitled “Hurdles on the Path to a Cure with Genetic Therapies for CF”, is currently chair of the CF Trust’s Research Grants Review Committee, was lead organiser of the 2025 ECFS Basic Science Meeting (Italy), and is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Emily’s Entourage.
