Marcus A. Mall, MD is Professor and Chair of the Department of Pediatric Respiratory Medicine, Immunology & Critical Care Medicine and the Christiane Herzog Cystic Fibrosis Center at the Charité University Medical Center Berlin, Germany. He received his M.D. from the University of Freiburg, Germany, and completed postdoctoral training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA, and the University of Heidelberg, Germany, where he joined the faculty until his current appointment at Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. He is a pediatric pulmonologist and physician-scientist and one of the founding directors of the German Center for Lung Research (DZL) and the German Center for Child and Adolescent Health (DZKJ). He is a member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and a Fellow of the ERS (FERS). Marcus Mall’s research focus is on the pathogenesis and development of novel diagnostic approaches and therapeutic strategies for cystic fibrosis and other muco-obstructive lung diseases. His team uses an interdisciplinary translational approach integrating basic and clinical research to improve our understanding of cystic fibrosis and other muco-obstructive lung disease and accelerate the translation of research results into the clinic.
