Katherine Tuggle, PhD, is the Senior Director of Research at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, where she leads strategic initiatives in basic and translational science focused on non-infectious manifestations of cystic fibrosis (CF), including gastrointestinal and endocrine complications. Since joining the Foundation in 2014, she has overseen a diverse research portfolio that includes investigator-initiated research grants, research training fellowships, and the Foundation’s Research Development Programs (RDPs). She has led multiple efforts to advance model system development and validation and has played a key role in organizing collaborative workshops and conferences with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other patient advocacy organizations to accelerate CF research and therapeutic development. Dr. Tuggle earned her PhD in Environmental Health Sciences with a concentration in Inhalation Toxicology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 2012, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the Gregory Fleming James Cystic Fibrosis Research Center at UAB.
