Dr. Sigrid Barrett is a tenured Professor and Dean of the School of Nursing at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She is a pediatric nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, certified nurse educator, and Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. She has been a nurse for over 28 years and a faculty member for the last 22 years. Her research foci areas include cystic fibrosis quality of life, transition of care, and fertility and reproductive health issues among adolescents and adults with chronic illnesses. Her long-term research objective is to develop, implement and evaluate patient-centered interventions to improve the quality of life for vulnerable patient populations. Dr. Barrett's research has been funded by the NIH, CFF, and other grant mechanisms. She has a stellar publication and presentation record and has been the recipient of several awards for her excellence in teaching, service, and research. She has been an invited symposium speaker at the NACFC over the years, and has served as Co-Chair of ResearchCon 2024. Dr. Barrett earned her bachelor’s and master’s in science of nursing degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and her PhD from the University of Central Florida.
