Hayrettin Yavuz, MD, PhD

Hayrettin Yavuz, MD, PhD, is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia, working under the mentorship of Dr. Agnieszka Swiatecka-Urban. He earned his MD degree in 2015 and his PhD in Biochemistry in 2022. Before starting his academic research career, Dr. Yavuz worked as a physician in Turkey, where he gained clinical experience that now informs his translational research. Since 2022, he has been conducting postdoctoral research in the United States, focusing on early detection and progression of kidney disease in people with cystic fibrosis. His work involves biomarker discovery, evaluating genetic modifiers, and improving clinical methods for monitoring renal health in people with cystic fibrosis. His goal is to connect laboratory findings with clinical practice to improve care in the cystic fibrosis community.
