We will have psychologists and endocrinologists covering how the diagnosis of CFRD creates an additive burden on the person with CF, given they have a new chronic illness to manage. In addition, there are additive burdens when executive functioning challenges exist. There will be an overview of the nuts and bolts of managing CFRD from a health perspective, a patient's experience of CFRD, and an overview of short-term therapeutic approaches to enhance self-management.
Learning Objectives:
Describe psychosocial issues specific to CFRD diagnosis, including the additive burden of treatment, adjustment to a new chronic illness, and managing the executive functioning burden of CFRD.
Explain basic nuts and bolts of CFRD management, and how psychosocial clinicians can support patients thriving with CFRD from a health perspective.
Summarize short-term, evidence-based behavioral/ therapeutic approaches to enhance CFRD self-management.
