SPC04--Nuts & Bolts for the New CF Team Member

The Nuts & Bolts session is a day-long special class designed for new Cystic Fibrosis (CF) healthcare providers of any discipline. It will provide a broad overview of CF including pulmonary aspects of the disease, airway clearance techniques, CF nutritional issues, CF microbiology, adult self-care issues, and some of the psychosocial aspects of living life with CF. The class culminates with a panel of CF parents and family members discussing living day to day with CF. The class will serve as a basic foundation of information for the new clinician that can be built upon throughout the rest of the conference.

Learning Objectives:

  • Summarize the basic pathophysiology of Cystic Fibrosis (CF)
  • Discuss various treatments for CF through a multidisciplinary team
  • Describe the importance of the partnership between the CF clinical care team and the people with CF and their families
